Xu Jiusheng

Professor of Criminal Law at the China University of Political Science and Law


Prof. Xu Jiusheng joined the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, China, as a Professor of Criminal Law and a PhD supervisor in 2006. He specialises in Criminal Jurisprudence and Criminology. His teaching focuses on “General Provisions of Criminal Law”, “Specific Provisions of Criminal Law” and “Criminology”. From 1988 to 2005, he conducted research at the Crime Prevention Institute of the Chinese Ministry of Justice.

Xu Jiusheng obtained a PhD in law at the China University of Political Science and Law in 2009. He also holds a bachelor's degree in German Literature from Guangzhou Foreign Language College and studied Criminal Law at the University of Bern, Switzerland, from 1997 to 1998, and at the University of Bochum, Germany, from 1992 to 1993.

Xu Jiusheng is the author and editor of numerous books and articles on topics such as penalty and its realisation, security measures, and prison regulations in China and abroad. He has translated major works on crime and penal legislation into Chinese, such as Paul Johann Anselm von Feuerbach’s classic “On Crime and Criminal Policy” in 2016 and Hans-Heinrich Jescheck’s “German Criminal Law Textbook” in 2001.
