Peter Thalmann

Assistant Professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business


Dr Peter Thalmann has been an Assistant Professor at the Institute for European and International Law at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria) since 2014. Previous experience includes work as an associate with a Vienna-based international law firm, as a law clerk at the Commercial Court of Vienna, and as a Visiting Research Affiliate at the University of Oxford Centre for Competition Law & Policy (UK). His research interests include EU and Austrian public law, as well as internal market and competition law. Peter obtained a PhD in law summa cum laude from WU Vienna University of Economics and Business in 2014. In his thesis, he analysed the foreclosure of secondary markets in light of the EU competition rules. He also holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Vienna (Austria), a master’s degree summa cum laude in business & economics from WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, as well as a Magister Juris degree (LLM equivalent) from the University of Oxford (UK).
