Prof. Markus Petsche is an associate professor at the department of Legal Studies at the Central European University. Markus Petsche's main fields of academic interest include international arbitration and litigation, alternative dispute resolution, conflict of laws, international business transactions, and comparative law. He has authored one book and numerous law review and journal articles in these areas. In addition to his position at CEU, Markus Petsche currently holds visiting appointments at the Sorbonne Assas International Law School Asia (Singapore), Mitchell Hamline School of Law (United States), and the Eötvös Lorand Faculty of Law (Hungary). Prior to embarking on an academic career, Markus Petsche was a deputy counsel at the Secretariat of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce and and an associate with Gide Loyrette Nouel's International Arbitration department in Paris. In this latter capacity, he represented corporate and governmental clients in commercial and investment disputes conducted under the rules of the ICC, ICSID, and UNCITRAL. Since 2016 Markus Petsche has been affiliated with the Vienna boutique law firm Petsche Pollak as an Of Counsel. He regularly acts as arbitrator and mediator in international business disputes.
