Course Title: CISG

Lecturer: Prof.Bernard Tilleman

Professor Tilleman is specializing in International Trade Law and Corporate Law. He completed his study at Leuven, Harvard Law School and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. Bernard is an attorney at the New York Bar. In the 1990s, he worked for the Belgian Prime Minister and the law firm Cleary-Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

Course introduction:

From 5 to 9 March, Professor Bernard Tilleman, Dean of the University of Leuven Law School in Belgium, gave lectures on CISG to master’s students at the China-EU School of Law. During the five-day lecture, Professor Tilleman explained the general principles and practical effects of the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG) as well as the relationship between the CISG and the Contract Law of several countries - amongst them China. The students benefited a lot from this comparative approach.
