Zhang Qing

Professor at the China University of Political Science and Law


Zhang Qing is a Professor of Law at the Center of Law and Economics, China University of Political Science and Law(CUPL). He earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of Manchester Law School (United Kingdom) and his LL.M. and LL.B. degrees from the University of Xiamen in China. He was an Associate Professor of Law at the CUPL from 2006 to 2013 and Deputy Director of the Research Office at the CUPL from 2012 to 2014. He was a Research Fellow at the University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbor, U.S.A., in 2009, and a Research Associate at the University of Manchester, U.K., from 2003 to 2005. Prior to these academic appointments, Zhang Qing served as a Clerk to the Judicial Committee of the Xiamen Municipal Intermediate People’s Court, China from 1998 to 2000 and then as an Associate Judge there from 2000 to 2006.

Currently Zhang Qing serves as Commissioner of Legislative Experts Committee of Beijing Municipal Government. He is also Director of the Chinese Administrative Law Association, Founding Member of the Asian Law and Economics Association and Founding Director of the United Kingdom Chinese Law Association. He has been published in numerous Chinese and English journals such as the International Review of Law and Economics, and the International Journal of Public Administration. His main academic interests include Economic Analysis of Law, Administrative Law, Market and Regulations.
