Dr Alessandro Pomelli is a Tenured Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology and Business Law within the School of Economics, Management and Statistics at the University of Bologna, Italy. His research interests include European and Comparative Corporate Law and in European and Comparative Banking, Financial and Securities Regulations. Alessandro serves as a consultant for banks and enterprises and is an appointed expert on Company Law at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium. He is a member of the editorial board of the Italian law reviews “Commercial Jurisprudence” and “RDS - Internal, International, Community and Comparative Corporate Law Journal”.
From 2008 to 2009, he was a counsel to the EU-appointed Monitoring Trustee for the sale of the Italian airline Alitalia and from 2004 to 2005, Alessandro worked as an Associate Attorney at the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Milan, Italy. From 2000 to 2008, Alessandro was a Lecturer in Law and a Teaching Assistant at the University of Bologna. He holds an LL.M. degree from Columbia University School of Law, for which he was honoured as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar in 2006 and earned a PhD in Corporate Law from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, in 2005. Alessandro is a member of the New York Bar and the Italian Bar. At the China-EU School of Law, he teaches “European Private Law”.
