Prof. Andrea Ott holds a Jean Monnet Chair of European Union Law at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, since 2011. She is also an Associate Professor of European Union Law since 2003 and a Visiting Professor of International Economic Law at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, since 1999.
Andrea has over twenty years of teaching, consultancy and research experience in European Institutional Law, EU External Relations, EU Enlargement and WTO Law in the Netherlands, central and eastern Europe and southeast Asia. From 1998 to 2003, she was a Senior Research Fellow in European Law and International Economic Law at the T.M.C. Asser Institute in The Hague, the Netherlands. In 2002 and 2003, she was a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. Between 1994 and 1995, Andrea conducted research at the University of Greifswald, Germany, where she obtained her PhD in 1996 on the integration of GATT/WTO Law into the EC legal order. Since 2000, Andrea has organised eight conferences and seminars in the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary and Turkey which resulted in multiple book publications. Andrea has advised EU institutions, Member States and candidate countries in central and eastern Europe. At the China-EU School of Law, she teaches the “External Relations/Common Commercial Policy” course.
