Bert Demarsin

Lecturer in Law at KU Leuven


Bert Demarsin teaches at KU Leuven Law School, Belgium, both on the primary campus in Leuven, as on satellite campuses in Kortrijk (KULAK) and in Belgium's capital Brussels. In addition, he teaches legal courses at the Faculty of Social Sciences, KU Leuven Business School and the Special Faculty of Canon Law.

From 2011 to 2016, Bert served as campus dean of the Brussels Law School and was a member of the managerial board of KU Leuven Law School.

Previously, he was a FWO research fellow at KU Leuven, where he obtained his PhD in 2008. He continued his research career as a postdoctoral fellow, both at KU Leuven and Stanford Law School, USA. His postdoctoral research was sponsored by the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO-Vlaanderen) and the Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF). Bert graduated from KU Leuven, Belgium, with magna cum laude and from Panthéon-Sorbonne University – Paris 1, France, with magna cum laude.
