Jelena Bäumler

Assistant Professor at the University of Rostock


Prof. Jelena Bäumler joined the University of Rostock as an Assistant Professor in 2015. She teaches International Trade Law and European Economic Law. Jelena’s research focuses on International Public Law and Trade Law. Previously, she finished her PhD in Law at the University of Potsdam with a thesis entitled “The Norm Harm Principle In International Law – A Study On International Environmental, Economic And Finance Law” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Andreas Zimmermann, LL.M. (Harvard). She is a fully qualified lawyer in Germany having gained her first State Exam at the Ludwig Maximilians Universität in Munich, Germany, and her Second State Exam at the Kammergericht in Berlin, Germany, as the best candidate in her round of examination. Jelena also holds a LL.M. in International Trade, Business and Investment Law from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. At the China-EU School of Law, she teaches WTO Law.
