Liu Jingwei

Professor of Law at the China University of Political Science and Law


Prof. Liu Jingwei is a Professor of Law, PhD supervisor and member of the Academic Committee at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) in Beijing, China. He is Vice Director of the 2011 Plan China Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization, a cooperation project of CUPL and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law. Moreover, he serves as a distinguished professor at the Gansu Institute of Political Science and Law in Gansu Sheng, China.
Previously, Liu Jingwei was the Head of the Department of Law and Vice Dean of the School of Law at Xiamen University, where he also received a master’s degree in law and a bachelor’s degree in history. His main books and papers include “Retrospect and prospect of civil legislation of China” (2004, co-author), “The problems of civil legislation of contemporary China” (2005, honoured with the 3rd prize for excellent achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences by the Chinese Ministry of Education), “The problems of obligatory rights legislation of contemporary China” (2009, honoured with the 3rd prize by First Capital Legal Research), “The transformation of civil law theory” (2010, 2nd prize at the 12th Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Study) and “The process of Private Law of Contemporary China” (2013, 1st prize at the 13th Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Study). 
Liu Jingwei is a member of the China Law Society, an executive member of the China Commercial Law Society and a member of the China Standardization Expert Committee.
