On 16 April 2017, eight students of the China-EU School of Law (CESL) arrived at Maastricht, Netherlands. Double master’s students Lu Yidan, Wang Yuqi, Wang Tongxing, Zhang Dandan, Li Yifan, Meng Fei, Huang Heyun, and Pi Xueying will attend four different courses for a period of five weeks at Maastricht University (UM). The courses are Comparative Corporate Governance, Human Rights and Human Developments, State Aid and Public Procurement and European Labour, and Social Security Law.
Former CESL student Si Tongle, a doctoral candidate of Maastricht University, warmly welcomed them and guided them to the Maastricht University Guesthouse for accommodation.
On 17 April, for the Easter Festival, students went around Maastricht to get familiar with their living environment and enjoy the attractive cultural atmosphere of this ancient and beautiful city.
On the morning of 18 April, Josta Mommertz, Exchange Officer for Incoming Students from/of the Faculty of Law, gave a brief introduction to the students and distributed the UM student cards as well as UM guidebooks. Then, Ms. Josta led them for a campus tour of the faculty of law and answered their questions patiently.
After the brief introduction, students met Prof. Aalt Willem Heringa, who is the former Co-Dean of the China-EU School of Law. Prof. Heringa expressed his warm welcome and shared his experience in China with them. Students had a very nice meeting with him. At the end, they gave Prof. Heringa and Ms. Josta their gifts as a token of their gratitude.
In such an international university, students are all looking forwardto their future studies and lives.
