Pádraig Hughes

Lawyer at Public Interest Lawyers


Pádraig Hughes works on matters of International and Public Law. He joined the British law firm Public Interest Lawyers in 2014. Pádriag holds an M.A. in International Relations from Dublin City University, an MLitt from Trinity College Dublin and an LL.B. from the University of London. He was called to the Irish Bar in 1999 and to the Bar of England and Wales in 2014. He joined the International Centre for the Legal Protection of Human Rights (INTERIGHTS) in 2008, litigating cases on International Law and violations of human rights including torture, extraterritorial jurisdiction and trafficking before various international courts and tribunals. Pádraig has been involved in cases before the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the European Committee on Social Rights, and various United Nations treaty bodies. At the China-EU School of Law, he taught the “Legal Foundations of Public International Law” course.
