Thomas Eger

Professor at the University of Hamburg


Prof. Thomas Eger has been a Professor of Law and Economics at the University of Hamburg since 2001. He is also the Director of the Institute of Law and Economics. His main fields of interest are the economic analysis of Civil Law, the Law and Economics of European Integration and the transformation of Eastern and Central European economic systems. Thomas studied Economics at the Universities of Marburg and Zagreb from 1969 to 1974, completed his doctoral thesis at the University of Paderborn in 1980 and qualified as a professor at the University of Kassel in 1995. At the China-EU School of Law, he taught the “Area of Freedom, Security and Justice” and “Internal Market” courses.
