On 7 of December 2016, 11 international students from the China-EU School of Law’s Chinese Law Taught in English programme met Andrzej Blach and Dr Falk Liechtenstein at the Chinese office of the British law firm CMS Cameron McKenna. CMS is one of the ten largest law firms in the world. Andrzej Blach, who is a partner in the CMS Energy, Projects and Construction Department and holds a Yale Law degree, and Dr Falk Liechtenstein, who joined CMS in China in 2007 and is also the lawyer of confidence of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Beijing, took the students into a two-hour journey sharing their rich experience on working as foreign lawyers in China. While Blach specialises in energy and infrastructure projects, Lichtenstein advises foreign companies and their Chinese subsidiaries in the sectors of consumer products, automotive, IT technology, life sciences, machinery and equipment, textile and logistics. Both lawyers talked not only about the differences between European and Chinese law,but also focused on the cultural aspects of their work in the Sino-foreign environment. This very practical and insightful session concluded with numerous questions coming from the CESL students. The visit was organised by Assistant Professor Monika Prusinowska.
