CESL ESTABLISHES THE 2022 FDI MOOT TEAM

FDI MOOT SHENZHEN is held by SCIA (Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration), in which teams from universities in China participate for promotion to its global round. FDI Moot is a high-level competition in international investment arbitration applying the rules and procedures of ICSID(International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes) to solve ISDS(investor-state dispute settlement) disputes. The competition is in English, with two phases of written memorials and oral hearings.

In 2022, six students from CESL MEI Qian, LIN Zeyu, MAO Yu, YU Zhen, WEI Leyi, and ZHANG Ruohan will participate in the FDI MOOT SHENZHEN. Monty SILLEY, European Executive Co-Dean at CESL, and Monika PRUSINOWSKA, Assistant Professor at the China-EU School of Law are coaches this year. Student coaches are alumni and graduate students of CESL with rich experience in moot court competitions, including TAO Zhilin, OUYANG Yueying, YE Chuhang, ZHAO Huihui, and WANG Sujiao.

As of May, members are divided into merits group and procedure group and have grounds of training under the guidance of the coaches, including written pleading and oral hearings. Through training, members have a basic understanding of international investment arbitration, make improvements in legal research, and have a better understanding of how to debate in a moot court.
