The CESL offered its students another chance of developing their interest in law. Two CESL assistant professors, Ms. Marieke Koekkoek and Dr. Zurab Gvelesiani, lead in this semester two study groups, which meet weekly to informally discuss the legal developments and existing problems in two particular areas of law.
Dr. Gvelesiani's study group is focused on the issues of competition and consumer laws. It involves the topics, which affect our daily life directly or indirectly: cartels on the market, anticompetitive conduct, merger and acquisitions, product safety, unfair contract terms, misleading or deceptive conduct, as well as modern challenges of the digital economy, big data, privacy and more.
Ms. Koekkoek's group is focused on the WTO in the 21st Century. The topics revolve around different challenges and opportunities that the WTO is faced with today. The aim of the study group is to help answer the question what future lies ahead for the WTO as a forum to maintain peaceful trade relations and regulate international trade law.
