On 14 March 2019, CESL Assistant Professor Monika Prusinowska was invited to lecture at the seminar co-organized by the Beijing Chaoyang Lawyers’ Association and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC). The topic she presented was “Transparency in International Commercial Arbitration: Recent Trends and Developments”.
Among other speakers of the seminar were: Patricia Shaughnessy – former Deputy Secretary General of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and law professor of Stockholm University, Thomas Mason – Canadian QC and law professor of Peking University, Jane Willems – the associate course director of International Arbitration & Dispute Settlement Program (Tsinghua University), Jerry Zhang – head of the Linli Law Office, Li Hu – Secretary General of CIETAC, and Chen Jian – Deputy Director of the China Academy of Arbitration Law.
Among other topics presented to the audience were: the use of emergency arbitrators, costs in international arbitration, the substantive law applicable in international arbitration, the perspectives for the revision of the Chinese Arbitration Law, the practice of mediation combined with arbitration.
