Course Title:  SOES, PUBLIC INTEREST & MERGER CONTROL

Lecture: Dr Nicolas Sölter

Dr Nicolas Sölter is an Assistant Professor at the China-EU School of Law. During his legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court of Hamburg, Germany, he attended the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer and worked for the German Chancellery. He holds a doctorate in law from the Universität Hamburg and he wrote his dissertation on legal bases of European agencies in relation to the vertical separation of powers. During his PhD studies as well as during his legal studies at Heidelberg University and Universität Hamburg, Nicolas was a fellow of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation.

 

Course introduction:

On the afternoon of April 19th, 2018, Nicolas Sölter taught the “SOES, PUBLIC INTEREST & MERGER CONTROL”course for the master’s students at the China-EU School of Law in the2ndconference room of the International Exchange Center. In the course of the lecture, he mainly taught about the EU's merger control system, which includes merger rules, such as jurisdiction, specific application, and institutions. Second,heanalyzed the relationship between the public interest and the merger control, and analyzed the difference and coordination between them in detail. At the same time, China’s state-owned company-China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN)was introduced to integrate theoretical knowledge in the form of cases. Finally, the students were asked questions and explained, and everyone benefited a lot.
