Course Title: Moot Court and Arbitration
Lecturer: Prof. Hinrich Julius is a Professor at the University of Hamburg Faculty of Law. He is the Chair of Legal Dialogue with Newly Industrialised Countries and the Coordinator of the China-EU School of Law Consortium Office. From 2004 to 2009, Hinrich was the Director of the Legal Cooperation Office of the“Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit”(now“Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit”, or GIZ, which translates to“German Corporation for International Cooperation”) in Beijing. In 2014, he was one of the professors teaching the China-EU School of Law’s elective course in Beijing on“China-EU Cross-Border Investment”and in 2015 and 2018, Hinrich taught the“Moot Court and Arbitration”course.
Course introduction:
The Moot Court and Arbitration course was primarily discussed a case, Mediterraneo Exquisite
Supply Co.(Claimant) versus Equatoriana Clothing Manufacturing (Respondent) Ltd., from 24 to 28 March 2018. The objective of the course was to prepare to participate in international alternative dispute resolution in a professional capacity. All the students were divided into several small groups and these groups were in charged of two tutors. They had to prepare“Pleading sheet”both represented the Claimant and the Respondent, and eventually competed with each other. After this course, the students gain rich knowledge about the theory, law and the skill involved in international arbitration.
