Nine new lecturers join the School’s European faculty

In autumn 2017, the China-EU School of Law is pleased to welcome eight new European faculty members to teach in the “Master of European and International Law” programme. Since they were educated in Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK and have previously lectured at law faculties around the world, these newcomers contribute not only to the European face of legal expertise but also add to the international diversity on the Changping campus. They also enhance the diverse array of legal research and practical experience of the China-EU School of Law. Their interests are as far-reaching as their roots and range from investigating European Energy and Digitalisation Law and European External Relations to exploring Comparative Corporate Law.

Here are the new European faculty members:

 

Max Baumgart
Teaching Assistant at the China-EU School of Law
As a Lecturer of Law at the University of Cologne, Germany, and a Fellow at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, Max Baumgart specialises in European Energy and Digitalisation Law.

Eduardo Gill-Pedro
Postdoctoral Researcher at Lund University
Dr Eduardo Gill-Pedro teaches the “Area of Freedom, Security and Justice” course at the China-EU School of Law. He is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lund University, Sweden, where he is conducting research on the principle of proportionality in EU law. He also lectures on a range of courses on EU Law.

Zurab Gvelesiani
Teaching Assistant at the China-EU School of Law
Zurab Gvelesiani is a Teaching Assistant at the China-EU School of Law. He is currently finalising his S.J.D. (PhD) in International Business Law at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary, comparing EU and Georgian Competition Law.

Andrea Macía Morillo
Associate Professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid
Prof. Andrea Macía Morillo is an Associate Professor of Civil Law at the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain. Her research focuses mainly on Tort Law. She specialises in Law of Obligations and Contract Law. At the China-EU School of Law, Andrea teaches the “Legal Traditions” course.

Andrea Ott
Associate Professor at Maastricht University
Prof. Andrea Ott holds a Jean Monnet Chair of European Union Law at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, since 2011. She is also an Associate Professor of European Union Law and a Visiting Professor of International Economic Law at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. She teaches the “External Relations/Common Commercial Policy” course at the China-EU School of Law.

Alessandro Pomelli
Tenured Assistant Professor at the University of Bologna
Dr Alessandro Pomelli is a Tenured Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology and Business Law within the School of Economics, Management and Statistics at the University of Bologna, Italy. His research interests include European and Comparative Corporate Law and Banking, Financial and Securities Regulations. At the China-EU School of Law, he teaches “European Private Law”.

Samantha Renssen
Assistant Professor at Maastricht University
Dr Samantha Renssen is an Assistant Professor of Company Law and Insolvency Law at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, where she is also a Research Fellow at the Institute for Corporate Law, Governance and Innovation Policies.

Griselda Qosja
PhD Fellow and Tutor at the China-EU School of Law
Griselda Qosja is currently pursuing her PhD in Law at Europa-Universität Flensburg with a focus on EU constitutional developments and the financial crisis. Griselda is a short-term PhD fellow at the China-EU School of Law and co-tutors the “European Private Law” course.

Ida Wendt
Fellow and Lecturer at Maastricht University
Dr Ida Wendt is a Lecturer of European Law in the Department of International and European Law at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Her research interests are focused in the area of European Economic Law, in particular the regulation of markets and the integration of a workable public interest concept. At the China-EU School of Law, she co-teaches the “Competition Law” course.
