International Legal Practice class at Dentons

37 students from the "International Legal Practice" course went to Dentons law firm in Beijing for a visit on 9 May 2017. Senior partner and head of the international affairs department Mr Wang Yingbo welcomed the students and delivered the lecture on legal practice in the field of international marine transportation. He focused in particular on bills of lading, letters of credit and warehouse receipts.

Starting with the explanation of the international treaties on marine transportation, Mr Wang introduced the Chinese legal system related to the international marine transportation. He also explained what legal services can be related to such contracts. Mr Wang and the students discussed several relevant cases, for instance the Chinese court practice related to bills of lading and letters of credit fraud.

In the three-hour course, students acquired a deeper knowledge of this field and gained a better understanding of the legal practice in this area.

"International Legal practice" is a new course in the 2017 spring semester. The course is organised by Dr Qi Hong as part of the Chinese Law master's programme and delivered by Ms Niu Yue. Ms Niu is a partner at Dentons. The lecturers invite the leading lawyers and senior legal officers from the Fortune 500 companies to deliver speeches and share their valuable both professional and personal experience with the China-EU School of Law students.
