Autumn comes, and a large number of new students also comes to school. The China-EU School of Law’s (CESL) welcoming ceremony for the new intakes began on 3 September 2016. At the beginning of the 2016-17 winter semester, the number of our school`s new intakes has increased compared with last year. Concretely, we have a total of 111 Chinesemaster’s studentscommencing in thedouble master’s programme(including 1 student from Macao), 18 international studentsin the Chinese Law Taught in English (“CLTE”) programme(among them 5 from Germany, 1 from Britain, 1 fromtheNetherlands and 11 from Poland), 10 European and International Lawmaster’s students and 3 PhD students.With their different cultural backgrounds,those Chinese students from various regions and students from overseas will create an open-minded group representin different legal ideas.
From 3 September, the welcome weekvolunteers hadset up a booth at the main road and continouslyguided freshmen to complete the registration formalities in accordance with the requirements of the school.
Under the guidance of those volunteers, freshmenstarted registration.In succession, they were guided to the Yifu building by the senior students for registration,residence migration and other formalities.
On the evening of 4 September, the 2016 CESL welcome meeting was held in the Mingfa buildingatChangping Campus. All 2016 freshmen and CESL administrativeteachers attended. Teacher Li Xiaolu spoke first to welcome everyone to join the CESL andexpressed his best wishes to freshmen. Then, teacherZhao Tianshu introduced details about the double master’s programme of CESL and its curriculum, course elective requirements andhowtutors are chosen. Subsequently, teacher Ma Anna explained the specific procedures and requirements of the course selection system. Students then enthusiastically raised related issues, and teachers patiently and carefully answered them.
The meeting provided a very good platform for freshmen to get to know each other, and many questions of students also were solved.
In the whole of welcoming, the members of Student Union and volunteers from 2016 intakes were full with enthusiasm and patience to welcome the new students and their parents.In addition, college leaders and teachers also provided strong support to the welcoming work of volunteers. During this period, prof. Liu Fei, Chinese Co-Dean of CESL, GUAN Ying and LI Xiaolu, the administrative teachers of CESL also came to visit our booth many times to convey cordial greetings to the hard-working welcome staff and express warmest welcome to new students.
At 5 pm on September 4th, after two days of intense and orderly hard work, thenew arrivals welcome activities were successful concluded.
