High-level talk on arbitration in a globalised world

How can young arbitrators gather information about the legal views, personalities and habits of arbitrators, especially those from different legal cultures, in order to advocate effectively in particular in high-stake international commercial and investment arbitration proceedings? This question was at the centre of the “How to Know and Understand Arbitrators – Chinese, Asian and Global Perspectives” panel discussion.

The open debates, which were held at Tiantong Law Firm in Beijing on 7 September, were moderated by Monika Prusinowska, Assistant Professor at the China-EU School of Law, and Mariana Zhong, Associate at Dechert LLP law firm. The evening was attended by about 40 arbitration practitioners representing Chinese, Korean, British and American law firms. The event allowed the participants to hear from leading arbitration practitioners, including Mr Cao Lijun, Mr Arthur Dong, Ms Helena Chen and others. It was organised by the China Young Arbitration Group and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution Young & International and sponsored by the law firms DaHui Lawyers and Jingtian & Gongcheng.
